TASMANIA IN A JAR: Preserving the seasons to add magic to your baking

Join Michelle Crawford for a beautiful hands-on workshop all about preserving the seasons. This class will incorporate some of Michelle’s favourite Tassie ingredients along with some special jars of preserves from her very own pantry to show you how to bring a little magic to your baking.

During this class, you will be making a collection of preserves including roasted strawberry jam and blackcurrant curd, and then using these, along with sour cherry conserve and wild damson plum paste to create a range of bakes. You will use eggs from Michelle’s hens, lush organic whipped cream and delicious treats from her Huon Valley garden!

You will learn:
  • The principles of preserving – making the most of what the season has to offer
  • Preserving techniques, tips and tricks
  • How to make the most of preserves in your baking

Michelle will also be hosting a  Smartphone Photography workshop in the afternoon from 2-5.30pm. Click Here for more details and to book.

NOTE: Cake Bake and Sweet Show is in Sydney on Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th November so if you are travelling to Sydney for the weekend, it might be worth a visit!

    About Michelle Crawford

Driven by a love of potatoes, Michelle ditched the bright lights of Sydney for a quiet life in an old farmhouse in the Tasmanian countryside. When not cooking on her wood stove and chasing naughty chickens out of the vegetable garden, she finds herself busy working as a food stylist, workshop teacher, food consultant, cook and writer.

Whilst this lifestyle sounds idyllic what motivates Michelle is a passion for real food and the people who produce it. A devoted cook and eater, she can often be found driving down country roads sourcing the very best produce from growers and farmers and spending far too long talking to them about potatoes. She is also the co-author of Not Just Jam.
